Meet The Committee

The 2011/2012 Chairman & Committee  members are:

Dave Edwards – TheWombles ‘Chairman’
Dave started caching in 2001 and was one of the Founders of GAGB in 2003. He has negotiated 15 agreements with major landowners including the National Trust, Woodland Trust and Forestry Commission regions. Dave lives in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Tony Pinnington – mongoose39uk
Tony is not retired but works from home most of the time. Though in the summer he tend to be away a lot working at events.
Enjoys caching, live music and riding his motorbike but has  not worked out how to do all three at once.
He mostly deals with phone calls to the GAGB and some email enquiries.

Jen Harley – Maple Leaf
Jen has been caching since March 2005 and has been an active member of the GAGB forums since coming across the GAGB website a few months later.
She lives on the edge of the Mendip Hills in Somerset, but travels all over the UK and Ireland with her job.
She prefers caches that involve a walk of a few miles leading to a viewpoint or an interesting feature rather than number chasing
Some of you will know her from the Mega event held in Weston-super-Mare in 2009 where she was on the committee.

Paul Burroughes – Palujia
Paul was a fully retired ex Policeman  and Police Control Room Supervisor until “she who must be obeyed” lost her job in the melt down! Had to start working again – so he is now the night porter in a Country Hotel. Caught the caching bug from one of the other employees. A keen caravanner, and a “hacking” golfer. (lack of practice, due to caching – and, unfortunately cashing !) Has two border terriers one a show dog, qualified for Crufts and the other (elderly dog) a 14 year old rescue. Wife, Judith, an artist and some time Cat breeder (Siamese, Balinese and Devon Rex) Hence  Paul’s Nickname “Moggie” and the Number plate on Big Ange the Range Rover

Terry Marsh – Countrymatters
Although beyond retirement age, Terry still works full-time, as a guidebook writer and photographer, specialising in the UK, Ireland and France. He is currently compiling an iPhone app to France, and writing books about the Pennines and the Severn Way, while also researching for a PhD in Historical Geography at Lancaster University. He began geocaching in 2008, at which time his son threw down the challenge to write a book about it. The book – Geocaching in the UK – is now available from Cicerone Press.

Cass Flowers – Cassandy
Cass has joined us to help revise the website and improve on other aspects of our software.

Lilian Maund – MollyJak
Profile to follow

Colin – The Wobbly Club
I am 61 years old and has been caching since January 2003. Despite having mobility problems, I use crutches and a mobility scooter to get around. This makes Geocaching somewhat more difficult for me. I now however have over 1500 finds. Disabled (or as I prefer Less Abled) caching is not about what you cannot do, but what you can do. Through the GAGB I intend to bring Less Abled caching to the fore.
